Starting High School

Year 6 to 7 Transition PowerPoint

Going to high school will be a new experience for your child. The school is likely to be much bigger than the primary school and your child may feel a little insecure at first. Instead of being a senior in a small school, they are now a beginner in a big school.

Bright Start Learning Conferences 2018

  • Bright Start Learning Conferences coincide with the first day of high school for Year 7 2018 – This is Tuesday 30 January.
  • Year 7 students are required to be at school all day on Tuesday 30 January 8:30am – 2:00pm.
  • Parents are invited to arrive with their child from 8:30am for the welcome assembly in the school hall.
  • Parents and their child will attend their Bright Start Learning Conference at the time specified on your Bright Start Learning Conference letter.
  • Whilst waiting for your conference, there will be a number of activities available for parents to engage in. They include school tour, Parent Portal workshop, Skoolbag App workshop and Q&A sessions.
  • Student leaders will escort parents and students to Bright Start Learning Conference locations.
  • After the Bright Start Learning Conference there will be a BBQ lunch for all students and parents from 10:30am – 11:00am on the COLA. After the BBQ lunch parents are free to leave the school and return to collect their child at 2:00pm.
  • The desired outcomes for this program include students becoming actively involved and connected to their learning through the setting of realistic and attainable goals while becoming self-directed and focused learners. As well as this, it is hoped that this program will allow teachers to set explicit, challenging and achievable learning goals for all students within their classroom.
